The Maverick is called ‘The Manpleaser’ by Jim Alexander, one of our Gourmet Chub Movers. It’s a southern style salami with a nice hickory smoke finish. This salami is made with cayenne, coriander and garlic. The Maverick pairs well with a pinot noir wine: the heart break wine. We recommend using the Maverick for coin sized cuts, which can be folded into soups for a burst of flavor. In cooking, it’s great to add salami at the beginning or the end of the process. Adding the Maverick at the end of cooking a soup helps the salami to maintain its flavor.
In the 1986 hit film Top Gun, Maverick was a character portrayed by Tom Cruise. A memorable Top Gun scene was shot at The Kansas City BBQ in San Diego. Albert Juarez, the owner of Meatmen, took his wife to this same BBQ restaurant shortly after proposing to her.
